And What About Holiday Eating?

Many of the messages conveyed by fitness enthusiasts and health promoters this holiday season will urge you to exercise "Adjusted Holiday Eating Practices". Steering you clear of second helpings, minimizing serving sizes, avoiding certain delectable items… and this list seems to grow each year.



Wait a minute! After faithfully following a daily activity pattern and paying attention to not over indulging on unhealthy foods on a regular basis, it doesn't make sense to not have some good ol' fashion holiday eats. I am referring to the main 3 or 4 specific events where family and friends get together (often Thanksgiving, Parties, Christmas, New Years) where the emphasis is the food.

Indulge yourself without the guilt. Take a second helping of stuffing if you want. Eat another yam as you like. This is one of the benefits of living a lifestyle of activity and choosing healthier alternatives, which increases allowances to have some time off.

But if you must follow some advice, try these:

--> Pick & plan 2-4 days/events/parties where you don't limit yourself.
--> Eat your food more slowly, drinking plenty of water and stop when you start to feel full.
--> If you can squeeze in 30 minutes to workout, it is better than not at all.
