Cold + Flu = Miserable Workouts

With the cold and flu season making it's nasty appearance again and this time with a vengeance, the question arises, "to workout" or "not to workout".

A general rule often applied is the "neck check". Symptoms above the neck, runny nose, stuffy sinuses…usually are symptoms of a cold and working out should be ok.. It is not uncommon to actually feel a little better after exercising with a cold, drinking a lot of water, sweating and flushing the system.

If the symptoms are below the neck, body aches, chills and deep coughs can signify a flu and rest is recommended. Remember, a flu lasts less than a week and this might be a good time to break from your normal exercise routine.

But probably the most important rule is "how do you feel?" If the answer is "like working out", then it is probably not going to do you much harm, just try not to get everyone at the gym sick too.

Remember:
YOU have the POWER!
