Chilly Weather Workouts!
Alternatives to gym & indoor workouts by getting outdoors makes staying fit throughout the year more fun. Be sure to take a little longer to warm your body up by moving 1/4 to 1/2 speed for an additional 5 minutes or so (added to your normal warm-up) when you get outdoors this Winter season.
And when you are out, try some of these traditional Winter outdoor activities for workouts:
--> Going Sledding
--> Ice Skating
--> Making Snowmen (Snowpeople)
--> Cross Country Skiing
--> Skiing/Snowboarding
Also, some of the outdoors/sports stores have the proper gear now for improved comfort while:
--> Riding your bike even when it is cold/wet.
--> Jogging in colder weather.
--> Going for hikes in the snow & paths.
--> Going for walks.
Re-consider some of your necessary chores and fit them in as scheduled workouts:
--> Raking Leaves (while they're still there)
--> Shoveling Snow
--> Chopping Wood
Another hot tip for a cold season is to keep your thermostat set a couple degrees cooler so you burn more calories naturally to keep warmer, keep alert, less germs, use less electric or natural resources and less body shock from indoor/outdoor transitions.
Remember:
YOU have the POWER!
