All "diets" should be properly named "restricted calorie diets", and this is just one recycled one. My mother used something similar to this over 30 years ago (unsuccessfully).
If you pay close attention to the types of foods, the way that they are prepared, and the prohibition of spices, what you are doing is changing your behavior. You are programming your senses to not enjoy food as entertainment, but look to it as fuel.
That is the most important element in the success of any diet in people who cannot discipline themselves, and need a diet to do it for them.
If this particular diet does it for you, and gets you started along your path, great. Just be aware that you will never keep off fat long-term unless you start and continue a regular exercise program.
Diets only work until your body adapts to them. The faster you lose weight, the faster your metabolism drops.
Take it nice and slow.
