Although I am not specifically familiar with the trainers you mention their price implies that they are probably gym quality machines. This type of equipment is typically bigger, more heavily made, and much more sturdy than their smaller counterparts made for the home. They also tend to be more comfortable to use, and have a lot more features than home models. This is why they can cost over ten times as much as the home units. The five year warranty comes in handy for gym owners who sometimes have these machines used for ten hours a day. As far as their superiority over climbers - they are essentially a cross between a climber and a bike so they work muscles a little differently than climbers and tend to be a little easier on the knees. As far as what the newest and greatest equipment is, this will change continuously as long as people can be sold on it. Don't forget that rowers and bikes have been around forever, and still give great workouts.
